About Revisica

Who runs the site, why it exists and how it is paid for. Last updated 9 October 2026.

Who runs it

Revisica is built and run by one MEng engineering student at Lancaster University, in their own time. It is an independent project. It is not owned, run, checked or endorsed by Lancaster University, the School of Engineering or any lecturer. Module codes and lecturer names appear only so you can tell which course a page belongs to.

Why it exists

Second year engineering has a lot of material spread across Moodle: slides, exercise sheets, formula sheets and past papers, often without worked solutions. Revisica puts it in one place for the four Year 2 modules (ENGR5001 to ENGR5004) and adds what was missing: exam style questions with full worked solutions, a study pack for each lecture, quick quizzes, flashcards and mock exams. It sits on top of Moodle, not in place of it. Every lecture and slide page links back to the Moodle original.

Free, with no ads

  • Everything on the site is free to use. There are no adverts and no tracking for advertisers.
  • There are no paid tiers and no plans for any. Nothing is locked behind a payment.
  • The rewards shop uses coins you earn by studying. There is nothing to buy with real money.
  • Your data is never sold. The privacy notice lists exactly what is kept and why.

How it is paid for

The site runs on the free tiers of the services it is built on: Vercel for hosting, Supabase for the database and sign-in, and Resend for email. The study assistant uses the free tiers of Google Gemini and Groq, which is why it has a daily message limit. The domain name is the only running cost, and the founder pays it. If the site ever outgrows the free tiers, the plan is to look for student society or university support, not to charge students or add adverts.

How the content is made

Questions and solutions follow the current lecture slides. Past papers are used for question style, not syllabus. Every solution is worked through and checked before it goes up, and carries a confidence rating. How solutions are checked explains the process, and academic integrity explains what the site is for and what it is not for.

Get in touch

Use the Contact me box at the bottom of any page for questions, ideas or takedown requests, or the Report a mistake button on any question. Lecturers and student reps are welcome to get in touch too.
