Keeping Revisica going
A draft plan, not a promise. Last updated 9 October 2026.
This is a draft. Nothing below has been agreed with any society or team yet. It will be updated as the plan firms up.
The worry
Student-built sites often disappear when their founder graduates. If you are going to rely on Revisica for revision, you should know what happens next.
The plan
- Keep running after graduation. The site will stay up after its founder graduates. Hosting is on free tiers, so keeping it online does not depend on anyone paying monthly bills. The founder will keep running it until a handover is in place.
- Hand it over to students. The aim is to pass the site to the Engineering Society or a small team of student maintainers before the founder leaves, with each year group adding its own modules.
- Keep the content open. Questions, solutions, study packs, the glossary and the textbook map are plain YAML text files, separate from the code. Anyone taking over can read and edit them without special tools, and they could be moved to another site if this one ever closed.
- Write it down. How to add a question, sync files from Moodle and deploy a change is written up alongside the code, so a new maintainer does not need the founder to explain it.
- Keep the same rules. Free, no adverts, no paid tiers, the same accuracy checks on solutions, and student data handled as described in the privacy notice.
What would change on handover
- The privacy notice would name the new operator, and you would be told before any change in how your data is handled.
- You could download or delete your data at any time, as you can now from Settings.
- If no one takes it over, the site would be frozen as a read-only archive rather than switched off, and accounts would be deleted after a notice period.
