ENGR5004 Dynamics Session 2, slide 17 (Self Study Examples, WE2)

The velocity of a particle is

v=16t2 i+4t3 j+(5t+2) k  m/s\mathbf v = 16t^2\,\mathbf i + 4t^3\,\mathbf j + (5t + 2)\,\mathbf k\ \ \text{m/s}

When t=0t = 0, x=y=z=0x = y = z = 0.

Find the particle's coordinate position and the magnitude of its acceleration when t=2t = 2 s.

Formulas you may need
  • r=∫v dt\mathbf r = \int \mathbf v\,dt component by component, with the initial position (learn this)
  • a=dvdt\mathbf a = \dfrac{d\mathbf v}{dt}, a=ax2+ay2+az2a = \sqrt{a_x^2 + a_y^2 + a_z^2} (learn this)
